Hi, Totally new to this forum and Vespas. Hopefully I'm in the right place I'm almost certainly about to shell out on my first Vespa, a 125 geared model...probably a PX. I'll end up doing a CBT at some point, but before I do that I wanted to get my hands on a Vespa for an introductory session, just in case I have a total freak out and decide buying one isn't for me (I'm sure I won't but buying the scoot is a sizeable purchase having never actually ridden one!) I've seen online there are loads of motorbike training centres that offer a free hour of training as part of the "Get On" scheme. This would be perfect, the problem is they all seem to offer it on 125 bikes, or just twist and rip scooters - I really want the session on a geared Vespa. If it comes down to it I don't mind paying, but wondered if anybody knows of places that offer a taster session. Any advice welcome Cheers PS: I live between Chester and Manchester.

ive never heard of a geared scooter hire place , an as youve got to do a cbt before riding you'll have to do it on a twist n go anyways ,its not worth learning a foot change to ride a scoot , lookin round ya local scooter clubs an makin some friends/buyin beer , its the same thing really, might get ya a pillion ride to a large car park an a quick taster session , otherwise dive in buy a scoot ,an if careful in ya choice will be able to sell for same money if not too ya taste, H

Cheers for the advice Henri.
"a pillion ride to a large car park an a quick taster session" sounds like a good way to go all things considered.
Thanks again.

you can have a lesson on mine mate,,,,,£2500 an hr and you can freak out all you want there's one or two schools around the uk with geared vespas, can remember seeing an article in scootering a couple year back so it might be worth a google search unless getting freaky drunk while riding another mans scootay is your thing? There's one in Leeds, I did my CBT with em on a PX.
Cheers.
