Not scooter related, but any help would be much appreciated! Where is this plate from? Is it old enough to determine where it was issued, when, etc. I've had it on the front of my mg for decades, and now looking for some background.

c reg , 65 , i think most authoritys stopped using there letter codes when the a,b,c,d came in , if not earlier as it meant a restriction on how many vehicles could be registered , i.e ##a-z 100-999 , means 899x21 (some letters arent used)=erm, you do the maths my head hurts . if ya see what i'm getting at . smaller licensing areas ,like rutland, cornwall ,east/west riding , without big citys/large amounts of cars kept using there letter codes right up til the numbers of registrations forced them to stop .you could try a www.gov.uk.dvla search of vehicle history .theres a chance its still on there records .better chance if it was exported after 83 , when they computerised . i run a triumph 1200 coupe 1966 d reg myself , an see a lot of older brit cars re-imported from the states ,what mg is it . damm wikipedia , ignore the above , it was in guildford between aug 64 an aug 65 , an my triumph turns out to be in shewsbury , a damm welsh-man car , beggar , but better than a stockbroker/commuter belt surrey/guildford car , ha-ha, consider yaself "nelsoned" , from the simpsons , doesnt mean it was built then as dealers registered them upon sale ,check ya chassis commision plate for that detail an trim/paint options/code . an as its a surrey car , a flat cap driving hat an stringbacked driving gloves are mandatory , my welsh one needs wellington boots, waxed cotton jacket tied round waist with string an leeks in pocket an a rain hat . i mean who buys a convertible in 1 of the rainest countys in blighty ,explains the copious floor rust i guess . Thanks for the info! H, the plates didn't come with the car, As the story goes, they were stolen off a Rolls in California, the products of youthful folly. They were a cool addition to my 73 mgb gt. Just the thing to dress up a teenagers first car! Now after almost 30 years I'm almost ready to restore the old girl. I also had a 64 herald, like the one turned into a sailboat on top gear, that I busted many a knuckle on getting to run. Sold it to a "father and son" as a project, only to find out they moved it on for double what they paid me. Put me off triumphs! Between the scoots, the cars, and carter usm, I think I may have been born in the wrong place:)

i use to live downstairs from carter usm , smallworld eh , its a chrome bumper 1 ,i'm guessing , my pops just sold his last/last project he'd finished , a mgb gt rubber bumper 1 , there easy to restore ,as you can buy new everything needed to build a whole car ,including a "heritage" bodyshell , an unlike vesps n triumphs the stuff actually fits out the box , H
