My vespa was stood for 13 years before I recomissoned it.Since getting it into the road one of its quirks has been a sudden feeling like the clutch has been depressed normaly when been given a bit of a blast.I was not sure if it was the cruciform but I don't have to put it back into gear. Its Deffo not just a slip it's as if it's had the clutch fully pulled in..Its just all of a sudden and sometimes a bit dangerous.Cheers Al.

sounds like slip , to me , when there going a twist of throttle n they slip an ya got to shut throttle an they grip again , is this in all gears or just one , as if clutch is dying when they slip they really let go as if levers pulled to the bar , an after 13 years they'd of dried out an wear quick on re-use , i think i'd throw a new set of newfren plates in an as ya there springs aswell ,as there prob a bit tired aswell , soak plates in gear oil overnight n drip dry , how much freeplay is there at lever before clutch can be felt ,maybe youve overadjusted it an its always on the edge of biting an is slipping under load , H

The clutch has a weird feel to it sometimes,a bit notchy at first I thought it was a fraying cable. It tends to happen in 2nd and 3rd gear the most and only when it's been up at speed for a while.

notchy , might be drag if its sort of grabbing in stages sort of thing , reckon 13 years standing (you bad man) will of dried out ya clutch plates an there crackered , might soak up some oil n improve in time but for the price of plates an pleasure of a clutch that works i'd swap em, tho notchyness can also be caused by a frayed/corroded/stiff cable ,inner sticking in outer an releasing in jerks , at bottom where inners exposed its prob got rusty in 13 years (bad bad man)so when its pulled rust is carried into outer n jams it up ,a clean n blast of wd40 an work lever 10 times might get it runnin freely agin , H

My apologies for sticking it in the wrong thread. The bike was a friends who is no longer with us.He left us 13 years ago with the bike restored and engine rebuilt but not a lot of clues to the internal work done but some notes on his old Haynes manual and a couple of parts recipts.Next month my 150 super goes on the road and could have the same bother. It was last on the road 1996.But I know it had a full rebuild about 6 years ago but still not been ran in.I can't believe it started on a bit of 6 year old fuel left in the tank.Cheers.
