Morning all, I tried to fit my new sip road 2 exhaust on to my 2014 px125 yesterday and something isn't right. There is a good inch i need to push it up further. I've tried copper grease, not sure what else i'm doing wrong. How much force can you apply, and should you need to. I'd be interested if anyone else has had similar problems.

loosen clamp right off n open a bit with big screwdriver/lever , then wallop downpipe up with a hide mallet , least thats what i did , they dont always go all the way up to barrel, but if clamp will bear on the stub when tightened its a good enuff seal , an dont forget to tighten swingarm bolt up an coat it in copper grease . at least it aint a chrome 1 , they have the captive nut fitted when chromed an makes it impossible to get bolt started , gave up after a hour on my mates 1 an swapped nut for old rusty 1 ,5 mins n job was done, an chromes gone after 7 months , H

Thanks Henri. Im barely competant with basic jobs, and this one looked easy enough to tackle but it wasnt to be.
So are you saying i need to hammer the sides of the downpipe to make the hole smaller? i can see this ending in disaster!

no def not , get stub positioned into the opening of pipe an strike underneath of down pipe with a hide/rubber mallet upwards to drive it onto stub , it helps to keep it in position if swingarm bolts through swing arm an just started in the captive nut ,if no hide/rubber mallet a block off soft wood between pipe n hammer an light taps should get it on enuff for clamp to be able to grab barrel stub , honestly from first piccy you seem to have it just about far enuff on already so a couple of taps should see it home , taps not wallops , ok, H

Thanks, that clarifies it nicely. The swing arm bolt is in easy enough so I can loosen that and have another go with the rubber mallet , tenderly!

I had no problem with SR2, and I agree it looks nearly there too; quick few thoughts though: · Loosen the bolt in the swing-arm too – have both loose before fitting. · Slacken off stub nut to make sure it’s properly loose and free. · Clean up the stub before refitting. · Anything else fouling it? - check you haven’t wedged cables where they shouldn’t be (or stand spring). I had much more problem fitting the Sito+; the SipRoad2 was a doddle after that one. It’s more wiggling and shoving than force really, you can tap it off with a wood block, but it only shoves on, or maybe a tap with a wood block (or one of H’ flash hammers); I’d be checking everywhere else before whacking it too much – I didn’t need to, I just lay on my back and shoved against the weight of the scooter.

Thanks again, great advice. I was flat on my back pushing up but without anyone there steadying the bike and it only on its stand I was really cautious as i didn't want to tip it. I'll have s big tea and try again later!

Ahh tension relief - I have the neighbours cat, who is always hanging around when I'm working on mine, and who gets his mates to come round and p*sh up my tyres when I'm not around.
Shed wall - luxury!

so, 1st ride into work, and something is really not right.
started fine, ticking over fine, quite boggy in 1st and 2nd, and even worse stuttering in 3rd, and 4th is a struggle to keep up the speed.
I've gone from a 96 main jet to 100, and then down to a 98 to see if it helped, Same thing. I'd swapped the air filter for a drilled one, and swapped it back. I've changed the spark plug.
Anything else obvious im missing? or is it possible there is a problem with the exhaust?

Rab, cheers for the idea, daft beginers question, could they have loosened by changing the exhaust? it was running perfectly fine prior to me swapping it. I know it sounds simple, but is it an easy job to get to them and then tighten them?

Well. She is back up and running. Luckily I have an old mate living close who assisted. One old style throttle slide replacing the one with the big air pockets and it was more or less fixed. Tinkering with the main jets, air mixture and the idle jet and the flat spots and spluttering have gone. I'm back with the drilled air filter and a 102 main jet and very thankful for his help. Just a matter or checking the plug over the next few days. Next job is to replace the restricted cdi to see if it makes much difference. Thanks for all your suggestions

On my last new px, the sitoplus ran fine with the modern slide, just shows the difference in the sip road to the sito. I'm not claiming it's running perfect, still a few flat spots and probably too rich, but we are going to re look at it over the weekend. I need to order a couple of different idle jets to try get it right.

Thanks H, i like that. That can waste another hour at work! We ended up putting in a tatty old 52/120 (2.30) which isnt listed on that chart. I think idealy it should be a 45/100 based on what i've read of the original set ups (2.2) so we arent far off.

Buddy just wipe exhaust port with a cloth, line it up and couple of gentle taps on underside of pipe with a mallet, not hammer! Make sure clamp fully open and lined up straight. Worked for me. Where did you buy it?

I had the same issues mate & did all the above too. I've never got it flush like the original but it works fine.
After seeing another post somewhere on here I also applied some silicon sealant to the stub & inside the Sip 2 & let it dry overnight before starting the engine to give a good seal & that has held for last few months.
