My old Frank Thomas trousers have finally given up after 14 years.
Thinking of investing in some new riding trousers & fancy some jeans for a change.
Any recommendations? Thanks.

ive fancied those kevlar type jeans recently ,dont think they come waterproof but fine for summer ,less sweaty than my padded frank thomas 1's , but as there £100+ i'm still haunting evil-bay for cheaper ones , that an being the "gibbon body-plan" 6 2" n skinny ,an most bikers being short/fat it might be some time til i score some , H

Ive had some of the cheaper kevlar lined trousers/cargo pants on ebay, for about £30. They come in various colours too but are not so well made. Mine lasted a few 1000 miles then split at the crotch. And as stated above, they dont have so much kevlar lining (if its real kevlar)!) as the ones linked to above. Ive aslo been looking myself for a new pair. my Richa ones are getting a wee bit small these days!! :0 Trouble is 95% of the trousers out there are all black. Boring! Ive aslo been looking at work trousers, some with knee pads, some made from rip-stop/codura/jeans etc. And i also toyed with buying the latest tech style 'jeans' or something a little more stylish and getting some kevlar stiched in myself. This winter I are mostly been wearing Scruffs work trousers, very similar to 'proper' motorbike trousers but half the price and loads more pockets!! Something like this.... www.scruffs.com/workwear/pro-trousers-2012.html

Got these ones in the end, www.rst-shop.co.uk/item3609.htmReally nice feel to them, not too bulky like some others I have tried. Look fairly normal when off the scooter and not too trendy. Knee armour is adjustable and the extra length is great for my lanky 6'6" frame. Managed to get them for £60 too with a little haggling so overall I'm chuffed to NAAFI breaks with them. Let's hope I never need to test them...

pure 80's scooter-tramp style eh rab , i must be rubbin off on ya fashion wise , ive been known to wear my old leather on the scoot ,it confuses people a bit . not as much as my mate who's rich cousin bought him £300 worth of genuine "triumph" leathers , he wears em to ride his lammie , annoys the scooterboys/mods/bikers well just about everyone ,H

It's weird what old age and caution brings. I was always just jeans and trainers/desert boots when i was younger, and just my harrington as protection. I took my scooter up and down the roads near my house on saturday after tinkering with the jets and felt a bit cautious as i didnt have my padded trousers and jacket on. Im definately turning soft.

You aren't wrong. Then again I'm still having weekly physio after my fall at the start of December and might have to have surgery on my shoulder now. I reckon 20 years ago I'd have bounced back up and rode home

as ya get older you dont bounce so well ,worst ive had was 65-70 backwards slide over a kerb ,got up n walked away , was in ozzy 4 hours later tho when my legs went numb ,was 17 , 5 weeks ago at 48 rushed to get out road in front of bin lorry ,forgot disc lock ,went over sideways at 5mph an broke a knuckle an a toe , bike was ok so thats good , an at 17-18 you think gnarly skater-scabs/road rash scars are cool , at 40+ you just think of the pain . Hi everyone...so I'll just butt right in as if I've been here for years. That's just how I am Must admit that jeans have always sounded a great idea to me, but its whether they rip that's kind of put me off. Denim isn't particularly strong, particulalry a few years down the road (pun intended). I must admit as others are saying as you get older you tend to be a more cautious...that's true for me too. The risk of broken bones I can put up with (not that I've ever come off...yet) but skin grafts I wish to shy away from. However, I'm noticing more and more tradesman's trousers made from Cordura..and they're about half the price of draggin jeans and the like. I'm tempted by them as not only cheaper, but stronger too. What do other's think? B&Q have got some, but they are everywhere.
