Hey guys,, just acquired a Chrome rack for me scoot but it's full of rust and I'm wanting to spray black, What's the best way to get good results in the spray job??? 1. What's cheap and works well for rust removal? 2.do I need to prime first? 3.Best paint to use? Cheers guys ,as you can tell never done much spray painting before!!

wire wheel in a drill ,really scratch it up , some rust-eater , hammerite kurust is my usual, let it dry n smooth any brush marks/drips with sandpaper ,then etch prime - primer-an choice of top coat , i'd prob go satin-black on a rack , your choice ,as its a rack i'd be tempted to spray hammerite enamel paints as it will resist damage from stuff on the rack n what its tied on with better ,an will look powder coated ,sort off,H

Honestly I'd not bother with paint, I've had a couple of brand new chrome racks powdercoated black after first scuffing the surface well and even that chips off in time, paint will be far less durable than powdercoat.
Have it powdercoated if you can, mine only cost a tenner or so to get done.
