If it's still under warranty, I wouldn't recommend doing anything to it yourself. You don't have to go to the place you bought it from, any Piaggio service centre should be able to look at it provided you take your service book along with you.
Are you new to scootering, may I ask?

cheers spence yes i"ve recently got back into it after a long time(mid life crisis ) but when i was a boy i had a pk a 90 and a 100 over a period of years and ended up quite handy with small frames, but i have no experience with px"s .we had a local piaggio centre but it went under and now the nearest authorised centre is the dealer at other side of country till piaggio sort it out .i suspect the carb needs a small tweek but also realise a scooter with a cat will never be as smooth as one without . thanks for your reply hutchie, ayrshire

Welcome back then I've no experience with catalysed PX's and how they differ, but sounds like the mixture screw needs a tweak to me..

Be worth cleaning the airfiler and the petrol filer before you do the mixture and blow through all the jets..

My PX125 is only 2 days old and has been doing the same. It doesn't even idle - just cuts out when trying. Other than that it is performing well. I thought it might just be like this because it is new. Does anyone think it needs a tweak?

Without much experience of cats on a geared bike, it is difficult to know what to recommend, try tweaking the mixture screw to get a decent amount of air in, that would explain the failure to pick up on throttle, otherwise just increase the throttle to keep it running, when it is run in it should sort itself out. First though, take it back to the dealer you bought it off and park it in the doorway until it is running right. (new ones tend to have a sh*tload of foam in the air intake box just below the seat (the hole in the front) get it out, not necessary in UK. It seems it is being starved of air. ps, bet you bought it from MSC, I used to live there, I have experience of them.
