Hi, I've just purchased a 1980 P200E and am having trouble with both rear indicators not working! I have checked the switch at the handlebar, the cowl connection points, the bulbs. The front indicators work fine!
Any ideas or help appreciated.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Peter Check that your side panels are fitted correctly . on the front bottom corner of your side panel is a contact that mates with a coresponding one in the frame which is spring loaded on elderly scoots the contacts dont always make it . I have had this problem myself when ive had the panels off.

Or try a new flasher unit on older batteryless px,s the indicators flash alternatly between front and back so either the connection from the unit could be naff or the unit itself could be .

Hi, thanks for the replies - much appreciated. Initially the cowl contacts were dirty but I cleaned them with a cotton bud and then some steel wire. You could be right about the contacts not making it to the body. Wonder if I can lengthen the rod somehow?
The flasher unit could be faulty as you say. Didn't realise that the indicators flash alternately. Will look into this too. When you say the flash unit - do you mean the 'signal relay unit' , the one that connects to the Voltage regulator?
cheers

Thats the one . A quick bodge is to stuff a ball of tin foil or similar in the contact hole in the body then you can eliminate the contacts.

Hi there, had this problem too. If its both indicators then it probably is panel fit. I found that the steel peg at the back of the panel (just behind the lens) can bend and this also prevents a proper contact. Just try bending the pegs out a bit more.
