don't know what he was playing at they have dell jets in stock they even have a size list for them behind them on the right hand side of the door from our side of the counter leading into the back. its a dummy's guide someone put up in case anyone behind the counter did not know .i know coz ive seen them use it only a few weeks back they have a spaco guide aswell. i do know they will throw lml or cheep crap parts at you unless you say something they know better with me as i throw it straight back. i learned when i was re building my scoot quality/original parts only coz if you don't they either have to be tampered with to fit or don't last very long

I know how beedy can be sometimes. By the sounds of it he was saying they only have the lml ones, which many 1000s people use and i would say are ok. Dellorto uk use some parts they no longer have from lml/spaco. But yes, for piece of mind you (and me included)! Like to see the mark of Dellorto! No problem. Try another shop.

its one they have made up themselves fella even the skinny one with glasses awkward till ye know him looked at it when i quizzed odds and evens for jets on dell and spaco and he normally knows his stuff. there again he will pass cheep crap across the counter if you don't state genuine or a part number i only use beedys and buzzsolo for in shop buying its like any shop there there to make money cheaper gear gives them more profit so they try get that out of the door

Ah! Ok! Yeh sounds like it, i think the spaco ones are stamped SCL ! That is annoying!! I see where you're coming from now! And i should edit my last statement...where jets are concerned, always use original italian made Dellorto!!

I've a box of unmarked jets (other than sizes) and not had any problems with them, I've had it for years. I'd imagine that with Del'lorto no longer making the carb, then they'll stop making the appropriate jets. Spaco carbs have some issues, but I've not heard of jets being one of them, and if Piaggio use them, then they can't be that bad.

dellorrto farm out there jet work to india ive been told ,same "source" maintaned the lml jets are made in same place ,i always try an use dell 1's an have at a pinch used lml in past ,so long as its genuine lml ive found the quality ok , i know you have a "bromance" going with beedy gaz ,an have used em myself in past ,by tinterweb not in person, but have always doubted them a bit as there website jetting guide is wrong ,it lists same size mains for auto-lube n premix px carbs ,a small fault i know but as you say they specialise in scoots an if ya cant trust em on the simple stuff , tho if ya go to dellorrto (uk) they list jet sizes in odds n evens ,ie 96,97,98,99,100, which i thought odd as ive been told they only come in evens ,so for giggles i ordered a 97 ,an got a 98 an a note saying "97 out of stock so weve sent you the nearest replacement thats suitable". go figure. also beeds sell loads of "swiss" parts , seems thats code for indian ,the better quality stuff but not from a country with a rep for fine clock/watch makin , H

like most parts for most things these days all made abroad in places like India or taiwan but lets face it if it was made in the uk it would be a dam sight more expensive for us to buy and not necessarily as good quality as the cheep labour indian made parts.its like german parts you expect very high quality and pay stupid money for it but at the end of the day it will still break .we see a stamp mark that tells us its got to be good gear so we think its is (consumerism ) welcome to the matrix

Dellorto UK will tell you to run only Dellorto jets (stamped INC) , which are still made in Italy... as quality of others is doubtable...! I also enquired about odd size jets years ago and was told similar...out of stock..heres the nearest size up (an even number) An lml carb with lml parts should be ok...!?

Rab, German parts aren't always German either. If you ever do a SIP order, the invoice shows each item's Country of Origin as part of the customs declaration. As an example - that lovely new SIP Race Cosa Clutch I bought back in the summer - Country of Origin: Taiwan!
As it happens, after a few recent disappointments, I only use Beedspeed for cheap non-critical bits and pieces now; and last time I did a price-check SIP beat them anyway with their £4 delivery. you can't beat living near a decent supplier though, where you can get in there, make a nuisance of yourself, and get to know the blokes selling the stuff.
Just sayin'......

i agree with sime bout the face to face scooter shop being best , i got a free copy of scootering yesterday coz ray couldnt be arsed to add the prices up on a rim i was buying ,nice touch, an sip are good with there 4.50 euros flat rate delivery by ups ,until ya forget 1 little o-ring/gasket or suchlike out of ya order n have to pay same rate as half a scoot for a 30p part , an recently with the swalbe tyres/shocker recals an other stuff there rep has taken a nose-dive , they seem to of got too big by being so good that theve lost the personal touch, for example ,bought a brake lever for missus's cosa ,put on ,adjusted an squeezed it an it broke under light finger pressure ,thought thats wat ya get buyin cheap on flea bay so ordered new 1 from sip,re-assured by there blurb saying "specially re-manufactred for only us/by us" , lever that arrives has exactly same casting marks n trade marks as shonkey 1 that broke, when asked bout it there answer 8 days later was ,maybe our chinese manufacterer has been selling seconds ,guy i got it from in this country eventually fessed he'd bought 100 from sip n was tryin to return em as "a few" were defective , sip wasnt co-operating , i dont know who's lyin an who aint so gave up, H

over the last few years theirs been a lot of people going back to scootering and a lot of the younger generation buying them. i think the downside is spurious parts cheep crap has come to the fore front and to the point the scoot shops with good old fashion values and expensive parts are having to sell the cheep crap to stay in the game. ill pay more every time for my parts to be genuine or at the very least good quality but you have to ask for the better quality even at the counter until you have used them for a while and they know you will throw the cheep crap back at them. its a shame as it will only cause a reverse effect on the younger generations leaving us old or not so older generations sifting through the crap to find decent parts. fleebay is a prime example for new parts ive lost count of the amount of sellers advertising px parts that are cheep copies not worth half what is being asked for them

I think most of what there is to be said has been said, but I'll throw this in to the pot - 'Swiss' is a brand out of India. And it's cr@p.
