Good morning scooterists... ive just killed my 166 mallosi kit so I thought I would try something different, and bought a polini 177 kit as it was going cheap, what are people's opinions and views on the 177? il be running a right hand JL pipe too.. should I run 2% or 3% oil mix? cheers (",)

hi guys thanks for your replies.. where to start.. The 166 kit was on the scooter when I bought it, and I run 2% on it, the casings have not been touched/ported yet.. but they will be to match the kit!

I ran the 177 for years with no problems. P200 carb was set perfect, timing was retarded as far as it would go, and casings and crank ported as per the instructions, and an upgear kit. I can't remember quite how many miles I put on it, but I'm sure it was over 50k without problems.

Ive not ported the casings as I was skeptical on matching it to a kit I knew nothing about as always had 166 malossi.. so my engine is totally standard other than the 177 kit and JL pipe.. i started on 115 main and dropped to 110, then 108 as has got better, got a 106 to try next! im running a 140 top, BE4, 45-140

It'll run a hell of a lot better if ported and upgeared. Mine would leave P2s behind on the flat.
