Hi there, Neil is my partner and new to biking after I gave him a clapped out rust bucket of a Piaggio 125. It was dead when I was gifted her and since then its broken down, been bought back to life by my fair hands (and the help of a lovely local garage and their mechanic), died and then brought back before being unceremoniously cooked by Neil on a ride from London to Norwich!! How on earth did he do that and more importantly why? (not stopping that is rather than going to Norwich - I grew up there and it is very nice!) Well (and I have permission from the Mods to post this) we are fundraising for charity.
The 125 Challenge: Well is sounds pretty simple. 125 miles a day up to Scotland and back in 10 days totalling 1250 miles.Anyone see a theme yet?? I am the imposter as I will be riding a 600 cc bike carrying tents/sleeping bags (and tow rope).
This is not as easy at it initially sounds....We have had a total nightmare. What with being new to the scene - Neil has already managed to melt one engine on the first test run of 125 miles!! It had already broken down once, had an oil change on the side of the road in the p*shing rain and kickstarted in action by the breakdown recovery guy, but unfortunately he was advised not to stop between Chelmsford and Norwich as the starter motor had gone and so he didn't and so he melted the engine! We bought another bike only for it to get a puncture (rear wheel of course!) on the second test run and so we are setting off next week not actually having to have managed copmplete a full 125 miles, let alone the other 9 days!

Neither Neil nor the two bikes so far have actually completed the equivalent of one of the days and so I will be anticipating good use of Carole Nash Breakdown recovery and I will be packing a tow rope but by hook of by crook Neil is determined to go the distance quite literally.
