Has anyone got any recomendations for proper Winter riding gloves, ones they have used/are using and would buy again.
I dont want to spend a fortune, and havent got time to trawl around bike & scooter shops trying to find the perfect one for me.
If i know somewhere sells one type that have been recommended I go to the shop, try them on, find my size and then find them on the internet a lot cheaper.!
Is this a needle in a haystack job?

I've got thick, winter Corazzo ones, that I'd definately NOT recommend. (useless when wet). I much prefer my old leather Weise ones. BUT, once they're wet it's a losing battle, so I now switch over to Tucano Urbano muffs when the chilly mornings start. I ride all year round, keeping the fingers moving is a must, and the pain when hands are warming again up is 'orrible, so it's muffs for me!

aldi specials , an brush guards/muffs , stops those embarrassing cry/fag breaks in bus stops as the feeling/pain returns , an the embarrased grannys havin to hear bad-words from me as i fumble the 3rd attempt at a roll-up. an when its real bad snow n ice ,leather welding gauntlets from machine mart in a fetching shade of ox-blood that are sprayed with waxed cotton barbour spray an thinsulate under gloves ,look like a right numpty but toasty warm all winter , i do same with tryin in a shop for size an then tinterwebbing but found even then some gloves wouldnt fit ,whatever ya do dont use old/holey bad gloves ,i had to borrow a pair once as mine was stolen still got a crater like scar on little finger knuckle from frost bite coz of a hole , a lump half a pea in size went black died n fell out ,stank really bad aswell , H

A bloke I work with swears by Aldi stuff for his cycling gear. I'll have to check it out.
I'd not considered Muffs but maybe i should.
The gloves (Spada's cost about £30)i've currently got are still in perfect condition but i can feel my hands getting colder by the day.

In years of riding all weathers ive found there is no pair of gloves that will keep your hands warm in winter .best ive found is a thick pair of water proof gloves and a pair of medical gloves on first as they trap the heat from your hands .but if like me you do a 10 mile round trip every day you still get cold hands just not that cold ye cant feel the buggers

My journey is realisticly 20 mins each way most days so they cant ever get that cold, but im not sure if its just that im soft, but mine do quickly get close to numb unless i wiggle my fingers as often as i can. I remember once coming back from scarborough rally, the snow hit us and we found a petrol station with those plastic gloves at the pumps and put a couple of layers of them on and they worked. My brothers works at the lgi, ill get him to aquire some medical gloves for me.

Cheap summer 'Nitro' gloves on left have lasted many 1000s of miles in many continents. Recommended if they're your style. On the right my winter gloves, which tbh, are not warm enough, or waterproof enough for winter riding!! Those are 'armadillo'. I also carry some Cold Killer 'inner' gloves on really cold days....see below And those Frank Thomas gloves on the right are not real winter gloves either.. Neither are they proper waterproof. Id rate them as 'Autumn Wear', same as the armadillo ones above^^^ Riding in minus degree weather, wearing both sets of the gloves shown below, my finger tips were still pretty numb.... Riding in constant rain for hours wearing those F.T. gloves doesn't keep ya hands dry either. Whats also worth noting is the tips of ya toes will also get cold....so dont forget about ya feet!!! And if, like me, youre still stupid enough to wear an open face helmet then I can recommend the Coldkillers face mask. Now that does work. Its all a bit more advanced than it used to be..... the 'driving gloves', dessert boots, jeans, t shirt, jumper, parka and open face lid... Wotevadaweva! Waterproofs were for.... Er, you know who!!? Hahahaha!

its only just startin , not bad tho ,end of oct before i started wearin my frank thomas trousers as standard ,there old n not water proof anymore but do keep ya warm,5 quid from a charity shop . for rain ive another set of plastic over trousers that go over them ,an cut the wind down, but for every 10mph you go wind-chill will drop the temp by 1 degree , so going slower keeps ya warmer even tho your out in it longer ,so long as ya gloves are half-decent anyway .as rab said above a box of the latex mechanics gloves are cheap enuff to be disposable an make a heck of diff ,specially when its wet n ya gloves are still damp from yesterday ,unless ya some rich/posh beggar with diff sets of waterproofs/gloves for different days/moods ,someday the rain will come for a week an no gloves will stay dry in that . i use to despatch through winters an most "jockeys" would compare gloves/helmets/waterproofs at tea/burger breaks ,an i never found a perfect set that ticked all the boxes .H
