Hi all,,, after having Henri pop round couple of weekends ago and giving me some very helpful advice I went out brought new seal's cables etc.. I gave the new brake shoes a sanding down greased up the cam/arm put all together and hey presto lot's more movement in the arm and more braking power. I'm learning that this is not a disk brake and will never be like a disk brake,, so will just have to get use to that and deal with it. thanks for all the advice people and will no doubt be back on here posting soon.

just send it a memo, typed in triplicate, giving a date in the nxt 28 days when your intending of braking ,wait for reply an then brake , they do work just need notice , drums take a more forwarding thinking/considerated style of riding , but wont spit ya off from a reflex brake grab emergency stop like discs can ,so no tailgating as everbody elses brakes are better/quicker than yours ,H

Are the brake shoes you can get with diagonal groves cut in any better the the standard ones?

if ya look at fred's earlyier brake posts grooving shoes was discussed ,i dont think we came to a conclusion why it was done or wether its any use ,some say yes some no, the 1's ive seen are newfren an that make are the better 1's of the cheaper non-fancy brands an i use there non-grooved 1's mostly, pads/shoes like tyres is personal preferrence /hotly debated .
