Hi guys, Haven't been on here for a while, but I'm still searching for a decent insurance quote on my recently purchased PX I've got a few questions to ask: 1) I have 3 points on my driving license. (from over 3 years ago) Does this affect my motorcycle cover ? and is it worth telling the insurer about this ? 2) I currently only have a CBT to my name; what catagory does this fall into when filling out insurance info online e.g. Provisonal, Full Uk license, Full Moped Licence etc... ? And lastly; what company's would you guys recommend ? Thanks again Shakermaker

Hi Shakermaker, Question 1 -Dunno mate soz ! Question 2 -If you've only got a CBT that means you haven't passed your bike test so you must be in the provisional category. As for recommendations, I've been with Allstyles (T R Youngs ) for 5 years (Lam) 1 year (PX) and cant complain. Never had to claim mind ! They seem to know what us scooterists need (agreed value ,low mileage, historic vehicle, etc) I've just got my renewal quote from em for my PX so I decided to see if they could be beat (like you do !) Tried on a few comparison websites and the best quote I got was £35 dearer. So I'm sticking with them.
So f**k the Meerkat ! Here's the link www.jml-insurance.co.uk/displayproduct.php?id=381&sec=2
Cheers.

Mine is with express on cbt with 3 points 175 for the year fire n theft i was being a tight ass and dident want to part with the extra 20 quid fully comp but my scoot was a pile of orange near death crap at the time this year its going fully comp.tell the insurance about your points coz if you have an accident they will find out and wont pay out .and it voids your policy so you get done for no insurance. Its a big can of worms fella

Hi guys, I've true both company's and they both came in at around £240 (which tbh had been about my cheapest quotes yet) think I'm just gonna have to accept that to be fully comprehensive on a CBT, with 3 points on my license that that's what I'm gonna have to pay, but to be fair it is my first year riding, which isn't too bad I suppose. Thanks again !!

def with rab on the points ,tell em or regret it ,if ya bother to do 2 quotes 1 with 1 without they prob come the same anyway , insewerants expect everybody to have 3 points nowadays ,what with police cash machines ,oops meant cameras , i'm with bennets for under 25 years n carole nash for classics , but use allstyles as a shop an they have been sound so if there puttin there name to ins it shud be scoot-good, how old are ya an whats ya postcode like , a guy 15 years younger than me pays half my rate for same bike ,diff is his postcodes really safe n mine aint ,even with me garaged n him road parked . age n postcode are what loads a policy more than points , H

Hi, I'm 24 and as go my area. I didn't think it was consisted to be too much of a "high risk" area, although it is on the outskirts of a fairly built up town in Scotland !!
I bought insurance from bikesure in the end at £280 fully comprehensive, 3 points only driving license, on a CBT, and my first ever year insuring something with 2 wheels. Does this sound reasonable ??... All comparison sites were coming up with around the same price as their best result !!

unfortunately reasonable doesn't come into it these days everybody is out to empty our pockets as best they can. once you have done your test the price should drop quite a bit. some times it can pay off getting quotes from companies that dont use the comparison sites

i passed my theory yesterday - how embarrasing having to do this at the age of 40. I think the rules are ridiculous and the cost to pass your test is a scandal

luckily on my recent cbt (15 years apart) all the kids were doing the 50cc training so were split off from us. the other 3 blokes doing it with me had all ridden years ago but never bothered with the test,

i know this is a old thread.you say you have had the points for over 3 years i think they are on there for between 4 and 11 years depending on the offence.so soon you can get them taken off. a mate of mine who is 41 has just done his cbt.to ride a px 125. but has been driving a car for years.has just got insured for £66.12p.fully comp with SWINTON.SO PENDING ON YOUR AGE you may be able to get the same sort of deal.when your insurance is next due.good luck.
