I reckon up to £200 is ok. You get what you pay for and I've only got one head so ........

I have an open face Spada for the little local jaunts, and a Box SZ-1 Flip-Up with PinLock for distance and dual carriageway (about £100): www.ghostbikes.com/products/helmets-flip-up-helmets/1489-box-sz-1-flip-front-motorcycle-helmet.htmlI much prefer an open face to save my neck, coping with the loss of peripheral vision and extra weight with a full-face, but I know they’re safer. I had an impact test report for lots of makes and types somewhere; if I can find it I’ll post it later. This Box helmet was slightly weaker than a full-face on a side impact if I remember correctly, so it’s a slight compromise, but I really don’t get on with full-face.

I bought a Caberg Duke flip helmet and im happy with it. About £140 i think. I read a couple of reviews as i was looking for one that was good for glasses wearers. I like the full face, but the flip's useful for popping into petrol stations without having to remove it.

Tried a few on today. Far too many to choose from ! But reckon I'm going for an AGV Skyline. What swayed it was - Good fit (feels right, comfortable, light.) 4-Star Sharp rating Good ventilation Internal drop down sun visor jobby Oh and Price, reduced to 190 in shop but seen em online for 150 inc. p+p ! Result.
Cheers.

I've had my new one 2 months, and not once have i remembered to use the internal drop down visor. It was one of the reasons i liked it as well. doh!

Good Sharp rating and good reviews; I quickly read a couple and nothing bad cropped up. £150 seems a very good price too; looks like a sensible choice.

I change mine every three years, and generally spend between £120 and £200. I'll not touch an open face (once you've met someone who's tarmac surfed on their face it kind of puts you off.. No chin, smashed nose, face full of scar tissue, not many teeth - IIRC they had to pull a few out of the inside of his face). Flip fronts are the type I prefer these days, always useful when you need to ask directions!
Currently I've got a Nitro which I bought off eBay one night when drunk - I'd tried a mates on, it was a great fit, so ordered the same in flouro yellow - and at £70, it's been a good buy, but I think I'll go back to my preferred Caberg next time, as long as they start doing light coloured ones again.
Old ones end up in the bin.

Does anyone have any knowledge or information regarding the Carnaby designs helmets ??... I like the look of them visually, because they offer m full face protection, but at the same time don't make you look TOO much like a biker !! Because of the MOD targets etc... (We wouldn't want that) lol. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers !! Shakermaker
