the cat exhausts run really hot, thats how the cat bit burns up the smog giving low-emissions ,but would of expected it an the cat 150px to match in temp roughly , yours is a fifth hotter ,+50 degs, reckon thats a good reason to stump for a better non-cat pipe ,you'll def run cooler if not at wide open throttle so much , an exhaust thats restrictive holds more of the heat an can heat up your piston badly aswell ,do ya know anyother 125 cat owners you can point ya temp-gun at ,to compare , H

you can always haunt ya local petrol station/scooterist hangout ,walking up to strangers an pointing a gun-like gizmo at there exhausts , on second thoughts that sounds like a way to get shot by armed police or beaten up by a scared scooterists, whats ya plug colour like ,are ya sure the engine aint running hot/leanish , H

yep ,pure invention of the devil stuff ,dont know about individual kits per se ,but standard has a simple "map" with a small range of advance ,the others give a wider/diff range of advance/retard ,allowing the timing to advance for higher revs , an as the restricted cdi has same map as older 1's just a rev limiter aswell set for 7000 ,i'm guessing the reedspeed is just a standard 1 made with the different plug so its just plug n play , £80 is a lot to pay to avoid doing 3 joints in wires ,but wouldnt put it past scooter shops to do it an charge that much,i'd be tempted to blow a whole 15 QUID on a cdi an throw it on an see what happens ,watching closely ya plug colour n temp, dont want to blow ya commuter hack, as i said dont know about kits but vespatronic was the first variable timing "captive discharge unit" that would work on 6volts an was a really good system for the time (70's) soon uprated to 12volt , there expensive coz people like em as there "original, standard, piaggio,OEM," an all the other words that translate as "cash" when put in front of scooters, but there also really good , i only mentioned the variable timing/re-mappable cdi's in connection with the engine you where tuning at the time ,not for ya daily hack/commutter , ya better off just sticking a standard non-cat on or a sip road 2 there ,keep it reliable an usable daily, also if the finish on cat px exhausts is anything like other modern piaggio's i'm not surprised its looking jank, just your the only 1 to of kept it on long enuff to find out ,have seen em on flea bay second hand, quite often listed as only done 500-1000 miles an theve all looked rusty n peeling , H
