Just noticed my brake fluid level is resting just below the min marker.
I only had it serviced a few weeks ago (with a Piaggio approved dealer to keep the 2 year warranty valid) so they should have checked it I would have thought (so the manual suggests anyway). Or could the reservoir have gone down that much in a few weeks? Makes me wonder if they actually done anything other than changing the spark plug during the service.
Looking at the manual it looks straight forward enough to top it up, 2 screws out and pour it in. Never done it before though so is there anything I should be carfeul of? Also, what is the best stuff to use?

hi
only when the brake pads are NEW, fluid level should be on the MAX level.
Fact is, you should not add brake fluid, just replace it once in a while according to the manual ,( preferably along with brake pads replacement).
the braking system is a closed system and fluid level will go UP or DOWN according to the BRAKE PADS condition
best thing is, go back to the garage and ask them about it.

I can't remember where but I read something about this, as Rudi says you shouldn't need to top up as the system is sealed and self adjusting so the level will drop slightly as time goes by. Also if the scoot was on the stand when you checked it the level will look slightly lower as the fluid is on an angle in the reservoir towards the rear! I'm sure it was in SCOOTERING some time back that you need to make sure you use DOT 4 brake fluid or else you'll have problems with the seals etc, so maybe a check with the dealer who carried out your service would be a good idea.

After posting on here I saw that the DOT 4 stuff on Beedspeed for a couple of quid.
According to the service schedule in the manual, the brake fluid level and the brake pads should be checked on the 12 month service, so they should have done it and maybe they are fine ... will give them a bell next week to check.
Glad I checked on here first then before diving in ... cheers chaps!

Mentioned this to a couple of different scooter shops (Scooter Crazy, Mike Phoenix and Solely Scooters) while I've been in about other stuff. They've all said it's fine to top it up a bit, I've got the DOT 4 fluid and am tempted to give it a go as it is below the min marker even when off its stand.
Anyone else done this?

A lot of people seem to think its ok to just top it up. Mind that DOT 4 stuff though, its better than any paint stripper! A safe bet is to use an old towel round the reservoir to catch any drips.
