Hi all
Got a problem with my PX200 disc model. No mech in my area seems sure what's wrong....
Sometimes while riding, my scoot will suddenly feels as though the throttle has no response. It's like cruising at 70kph, then suddenly fuel gets cut. If throttle is kept open, fuel and power will return, but scoot will jerk because fuel comes intermittently. This might last for a short while, then everything will be back to normal.
Sometimes I will clutch in while there's no power, then release clutch so that scoot kind of "starts again" and moves on. Again, fuel and power comes intermitten (and scoot jerks) for a short while then things get back to normal.
This problem has been around for around 3years. That's as long as I've owned the scoot. It starts well, rides well apart from when the problem occurs.
Scoot is running on all stock parts with no modifications. Jettings and all are correct, possibly ruling out carb problems.
I've been to a few mechs. Suggestions range from (most commonly) magneto coil need replacement, to ridiculous stuff like idling is poor!
Any suggestions from you guys?
thanks

First place I'd look is the carb, could well be a bit of crap floating round in there which intermitantly blocks one of the jets.. take the top off the float bowl give it a good clean out, blow the jets through and clean the fuel filter..

hi
strange... i would cancel idling, cause your problem occurs on high speeds
it looks like a fuel starvation....
regarding the coil, in the disk 200 its a cdi+coil combo (ducati type) i dont think its the problem... cause from what i understand, problem happens at a certain high speed (correct me if im wrong..)
possible causes then? maybe vacuum in the fuel tank causes fuel starvation,. this can happen from a bad fuel cap.
could be as bryno said, some block in the main jet

Hi I would say that you more than likely have a fuel starvation problem but not nessessarily carb related, check the fuel tank for crap and the pipe for any kinks. it it was crap in the carb it would be there all the time not intermittantly but in the tank it would depend on the amount of fuel in the tank.A kink in the pipe may only show up when you are pulling more fuel. I ff you can swap tanks with someone else and see what happens.
Cheers Dave

Thanks to all who replied
The carb has been checked by mech. Seems like it's out. Maybe I'll try checking the tank.
As for the magnetic coil, I was referring to some part found by removing the flywheel. Is that the correct name? Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.
Just adding more details, problem occurs once or twice a week. Not every trip.
