I'm about to start restoring a PK125S mainly for my wife to use but it needs to be able to lug my 17 stone or so on occasion so I could do with sourcing some engine upgrade bits. I was riding the scoot a year or so ago and the engine seemed sound. I am considering a Simonini Exhaust and either Polini or DR 130 kit. Do I need a new carb or will upjetting the existing (19mm?) one be adequate? Any other upgrades essential/recommended - bearing in mind the consistent emptiness of my wallet. Ideally I want the scoot to be comfortable in modern traffic at 60mph or so. I don't need a pocket rocket. Where's the best place to buy PK parts? There's a couple of German dealer's web sites that stand out.

rite well a polini would probably be your best option for performance and bank for buck you should be fine with the standard carb with the polini and a exhaust aswel, and www.sip-scootershop.com sell tons of smallframe stuff aswel as pretty much any scooter

U can't go wrong with the polini 130 kit and a leovince/polini exhaust. The transfers rerally do need to be matched for the polini to work to its full potential. Astandard will suffice bu a 25phbl is so much better if your considering porting the cases. SIP are great for smally bits but for little bits and bobs u could find it easier to use turners/beedspeed or totally scooters.
Being "comfortable in modern traffic at 60" will cost you about £400 in engine bits but you'll end up with a little stormer.

Thanks for the tips folks. I think the Polini 130 and 1 of the cheaper sports exhausts will be within my price range. I do use Beedspeed a fair bit for parts for my Lammys but smallframe/PK parts seem a lot easier to source from Germany. I was looking a while back at www.rollershop-express.de but they seem to have cut down on their range on-line and don't list any engine parts for PK's now. When complete shopping list is sorted I'll have a good check around.
