I'm not entirely sure what the R stands for. I was always under the impression the C stood for 'chiuso' which is Italian for 'closed'. I thought I'd seen a fuel tap with an A on the other side, so thought it must stand for 'apuerto', which means 'open', but I think I was imagining things because they all seem to have an R on them when I look now.

I thought C was closed, up was on and R was reserve, but on my T5 it will only run on R, in the up position it runs for a minute and dies. Bit iffy running on reserve all the time, constant tank checks.

Theres no reserve on the T5, only have 2 usable positions, off and on, think it's the same on all Vespas fitted with the fule gauge and light..
