Hi All After a break of around 20 years, I am now back in the Vespa ownership club! During my mid to late teens I owned a number of Vespas; a PX50, a Primavera 125 and 100cc Scoot (can't remember the exact model ). Then, I went off to Uni, got interested in other things and forgot all about Scooters. However, over the past year or so my thoughts returned to the fun times I had on a Vespa and I had a yearn for the smell and noise of a two stroke! Well, this week I bought a 2011 Vespa PX150 with <1000km on the clock To say I am over the moon with it would be a bit of an understatement. I know I've just joined the forum but I already have my first question. When I bought the Scoot, the previous owner had removed the right-hand mirror and I can't figure out how to reattach it. I can't seem to thread the bolt (photo1) through the headset cover (photo2). The right-hand throttle assembly appears to be in the way. You can see the throttle bar in photo2. I have thought about taking the headset cover off but the throttle assembly would still be in the way so I'm not sure if removing the headset cover would help. Can anyone suggest how I can fix this? Thx rubberPX

I cant help you with this , but , it may pay you to move the question to the technical section . More people with the knowledge to help look at that bit than the intro's. Looking at the pics , it may be that you need to slide the throttle tube out, then slide the mirror holder in from the top , then slide the tube back in past the thinnest part of the holder (if that makes any sense).

long time since i did this, but i think if i remember rightly, you have to remove the plastic wheel that is attached to the throttle tube, which holds in the throttle cable by removing the big clip holding it on to the tube, once off, just move the tube enough to make way for the mirror stem to screw in

hi, if you grind away a small part of the lower collar part just before the thread a little at a time , you will be able to push it past the throttle or gear tube without taking them all out. i did it to mine and they have stayed in perfectly, just dab a little loctite to the thread if you want. hope this helps.

I did exactly the same as 'baldmeister' thinking what a bl%dy silly idea to make it like that in the first place. Be careful with the thread in the headset as they are only aluminium so can be distorted if not enough 'meat' is ground away from the mirror retainer and you end up forcing it past the throttle tube.

no need to grind anything, its a 5 minute job to move the throttle tube to free the space to fit the mirror stem
