Just finished putting my scoot back together after a winter rebuild and my clutch doesn’t work. It’s a rebuilt engine and new clutch assembly - engine started very easily (surprising as its my first time) but the clutch is duff! The arm on the clutch assembly appears to be moving fully. However the clutch lever itself does feel very light to operate (compared to the old one) Any obvious things I should look at before pulling the engine out again. Cheers

Did you make sure you'd straightened all the slack out of your clutch cable?

Yep! - But while checking the cable it seems that I hadn't taken up enough free play in the lever on the clutch assy as now the action feels much "stiffer" than before although it's still not working.
However, now with the engine running it will still stall as I put it in gear - but as it stalls the clutch seems to start to work allowing me to bump start it to get it going when the clutch will stop working again ( ie when I pull it in drive doesn't stop to the wheel!) its also strange that just after stalling the clutch seems to work as I can bump it forward but cant push it backwards in gear
any other ideas?

Problem solved. I had left out the spacer washer that sits between the crank and the clutch assembly. off to Margate on Sunday now!!
What sort of speed should I run the engine in at?
