Hi all I have a px125 E 1988 and going to change all the cables throttle, gear, speedo, brakes.I have been looking at these complete cable sets for around £20 but could I rattle your experienced brains as to wether this is a good idea to replace all at once or if its not broke don't fix it or should I just get the cable and not outer? Also what type of cable would you buy? Cheers guys for any advice

At the moment, nylon lined, but it looks like MBD could be launching the next generation sometime this year, he's already doing them for the othr type of scooter. I think they're stainless lined, but could be wrong.
As for changing them.. How do they feel and look? The slightest bit of stiffness that oil doesn't cure, or any sign of fraying, whip them out and replace. It's a bit of a ball ache doing it at the side of the road (usually in the dark when it's raining), so preventative measures are always the best way, especially if you don't know how long since they were done last. It's not the easiest job in the world, especially if you pull the whole cable out, but if you need advice on changing them I'm sure the combined brains on here can talk you through the easiest method.
My simple rule of anything is 'Can I avoid fixing this at the side of the road?'. If you can do it in a garage with a cup of coffee to hand, it's a winner.

Word of warning. Don't just pull out the inner and outers as the old outer can be used as a guide to draw the new outer into place. It can be done if you have already pulled them all out, but it's a lot more faffing about with foot-brake off to help get access etc through the monocoque frame!!!

I was assuming he'd know both that, and to use an overlength inner to start with, although I'm planning on using welding wire next time I do one, just to see how that goes.

True Nik, but my old chief engineer (he of many a wise word when I were a young aircraft engineer) said:- "Never assume; always check". Good words that have saved me a lot of grief over the years!!!!

While we're on early sexual encounters, I'd just like to thank whoever it was who used to leave copies of Fiesta in bushes in the 1970's. Seriously, thanks.

Round our way, it was a specialist magazine called 'Swish'.
Explains a lot....

It would be the second one. You don't know who my missus is, do you? Ever listen to Scooterist Internat Radio in its early days?

No, it was the first scooterist online radio station. May even still be going as far as i know, the owner isn't a mate. I married his g/f who was a bit notorious in certain respects

No, was never a mate. Never would be, he's someone I don't really get like anyway.
The wife was a bonus!
