Hi peeps, Will a t5 start without a exhaust fitted?. as i have just fitted my new engine and it wont start. i have a good spark. fuel seems to be going in fine. it did run for a few seconds cut out. just woundering if its because there is no exhaust on it at the mo?

Blimey your neighbours are gonna love that It will be difficult to start, but you may get it going, 2 strokes need exhaust back pressure to make the cycle work properly... Stick an exhaust on and it will start first kick

Well got it running today without the exhaust need to get a new carb. As the t5 one seems to be just flooding the engine. will have to strip it down again and have alooky. sounds great without the exhaust blap blap blap lol ;D ;D

Probably the float sticking especially if it's been standing empty for a while, check that and that the needle valve is clean before trying another carb

Running without an exhaust might be why the motor is flooding. I had a problem getting my scooter to start a while back and it turned out to be split in the exhaust. I found that out after I had stripped the carb, changed the needle valve, checked the timing, coil etc...........
