Hi all. I have a px125 on a 06 plate. It has just come up to 1000km so as the book says, i have changed the gearbox oil. Occasionally prior to the change I had the odd problem getting into 3rd gear, where it just plain refused, would go a further 10 yards in 2nd and then it would change no problem. Had a litlle run out today, couldnt get out the estate as it just won't go into 3rd. Think I might have ballsed things up and was wonddering if there was a straight forward remedy. Am in the process of buying a haynes manual off ebay as I would rather fix myself than send it to dealer under warranty.
Anyone any ideas what I have done Cheers Kev

Now now Trevor, go easy. He's right though Kev, with what is effectively a new scooter still under warranty, you really do want to get it seen to by a Piaggio dealer.

If the Piaggio dealers are as good as the Audi dealers were with my TT I can understand Kev wanting to fix it himself ie. less hassle, quicker, no snotty nose answers and done right first time - only trouble is you have to wash it yourself after!

No wonder your goldfish died if you took it to Scarborough Ray, you're supposed to leave them in the bowl.

My PX 125 (also a 2006) has been in for repairs for 2 weeks now. It's ruddy killing me, I miss her like mad!
It doesn't help that I now have to get the bus everyday with a guaranteed MC Dickhead and his mobile Nokia powered drum 'n bass disco blaring out. This country.
When I do finally get it back I need to book it in with the dealer (it's in at an independent place at the mo as the repairs needed aren't covered by the warranty) to get the speedo/mileage (is it 1 cable or 2?) sorted, the bugger(s) has snapped.

same old story devo matey, the must be a fault with the speedo cable cos every one with a px is always saying they snap after around 500 clicks (hey spence like the u.s marines terminology) it has two cables an inner and outer but the outer should be alright just get an inner and lubricate it well and shove it down the outer good luck

i had trouble with the gears on my px at one stage and when i took the cables out the second cable (white marked one) coiled up and the black marked cable was worn so i replaced both, and then as i went to ride up to Turners in little sutton the clutch cable snapped and i had no clutch, i then rode to my uncles and fitted a new clutch cable but my gears were so light and easy to change after the i put in new cables it made a massive difference, i did also grease the selector box and oil the cables a bit aswell tho.

I've had all my gear change trouble on my PX in the wet. If I ride for a long time in p*shing rain (eg to Skegness last year, or to Tenby the year before), it gets harder and harder to change down until eventually I have to use two hands to get it into first.
Solved that problem though, just never go out in the wet now.

Hi all. .....and theres me thinking I am the only one with a dodgy bike.
Had a nightmare with the warranty. Midland Scoot Centre said the forms weren't sent off by original owner so its invalid.
Anyhow, a top fella called Eric Tudor in Wigan had a look and is convinced its the gear cable need greasing, so booked in for Monday ( £15!)
Apparently, like everyone else, Piaggio more interested in quantity rather than quality on production line nowadays and this has become a common problem with new px's.
Hope this has helped some of you!! Cheers Kev

Hi all. Hate to say it but me too! had the bike about a month now and always had trouble selecting third gear more so when cold. Its a bit embarassing accelerating up the the gears hit third (or try) then some frantic wrist movements then miss it completely and get forth loose all speed then have to change down and go through it all again. Is that cables, selectors where to start any ideas. Is it the manual thats finishing in about 2hrs.

For the general stiffness, try loosening the gear cable at the adjuster, which is located just forward of your gear selecter box (down under your kickstart). Can't remember off the top of my head if it's a 7mm or an 8mm spanner you need, but it's just a case of loosening the two nuts off against each other to introduce a little slack into the cable.

ouch £15 to remove the cables dip them in some oil and replace them, you should be able to do that yourself quite easily, my gearchange went like this but as you probably read i replaced the cables and greased the selector box and oiled the cables and it was a couple of quid for the cables that is
