What scooter mate? if it's a PX frame (small frames are probably the same) it's a headset off and drop the forks out job, you need a special spanner to undo the top fork nut, but it's straightforward enough. I've a new guard to go on mine, just not got round to tackling the job yet..

I've just fitted a new plastic one to my s/frame. Looks great and well worth the agro. Whilst on the subject..... The plastic one i have fitted has a row of holes at the back as if to suggest a mud flap can be fitted. Is this what the holes are for or am I missing something!!!!!

If it's a T5 with a round headlamp, it's the same body as a PX and called a T5 Classic, just has a different engine, if it's a square light, it's a T5 Mk1 which has a few different bits to the PX, notably the front mudguard is smaller.
Spanner you will get from any scooter dealer, about £8.

Also, the front mudguard on a T5 Mk1 is seamless with no crest, whereas on the PX the mudguard's got a weld down the middle for the rust to gather on and a chrome effect plastic crest.

Aye, built in rust trap that.. The crest is 'plastic effect plastic' on the T5 thou, none of your fancy chrome oh and the legsheild mouldings are black, as is the kickstart, engine covers and brake/clutch levers and there is a useless plastic spoiler under the floor, some Classics also have the plastic tray on top of the tool box..

Excellent that plastic tray. Sometimes known as the drinks tray, very handy for change for the world's stupidest toll bridge in Worksop on the way to Skegness, but even handier for keeping an old spark plug for throwing through the window of the car that just cut you up.
So I've been told.
