They are like bike cables, easy enough to do.. Remove top of headset (4 screws). Unclip speedo cable so you can remove headset. Pull out broken inner cable. Take cover off top of carb (2 screws) and remove air filter, 3 screws. Pull rest of broken cable off carb. Thread new cable through from headset end, use a little oil. Attach to carb, take up any slack using the cable adjuster on the carb housing (8mm spanner). Put it back together, adjust tickover with the screw on top of carb (one with spring on it), job done! P.S may just have pulled out at either end rather than snapped, worth checking..

Bryn's advice is correct and you should note that it just refers to leaving the cable outer in position and replacing the inner only, which is the easiest way. I'd also recommend giving your new cable inner a smear of grease before inserting it, which lubes it and prevents moisture getting in there.

IIRC the throttle cable is supplied with a nipple soldered on each end, so if it's had one of those screw on ones on it, it's been modded..

The soldered nipple issue's a tricky one. It's on the carb end on my Sprint, with the small screw-on bit at the throttle end. I think it's the other way round on other models, so I'll bow out to you T5 guys on this one.

hmm, I know the small soldered end is on the carb on mine, presume it's a moulded 'barrel' at the handlebar end.. think the smaller end is small enough to slide down the inner cable, hence cable comes with both ends already attached.. BTW novice, first thing I bought when I got my scoot was a spare of each inner cable to keep in the tool box so I can repair any at the roadside, worth doing, you only need the most basic tools to change any of the cables
