Evenin all.
New to this site and to the Vespa so excuse the following, probably simple, questions.
1- Does the PK50 XL have a battery? If it does where is it?
2- Are there any other Vespas I can get donor parts from or do they have to come from another PK
3- Am I mad for taking on this project?
Hopefully when finished it will look quite smart. Decided on Cobalt Blue(candy) with a white stripe and lots of chrome bits.

Hi Mate,
The PK 50XL doesn't always have a battery - some have -some haven't. Speaking Very Generally if it's got an electric start - it'll have/need a battery. if it hasn't it won't (Although this isn't always the rule) If it has one the connections are under the non engine (left hand) side panel and the battery sits in a tray on the spare wheel holder under the same side (Obviously!!)
Donor parts are PK only as far as bodywork is concerned - apart from the headset top Which I'm led to believe a PX(Non disc) one will fit. Certain small frame bits will fit as far as accessories go but again generally speaking it's PK all the way.
Engine bits - most small frame stuff will fit or can be made to fit but bear in mind PK parts are usually pretty cheap. Stick with PK exhausts though as other small frame ones are slightly different in my experience.
No you're not mad for taking it on but bear in mind PK's rarely fetch more than 800 quid when selling them on so, in my opinion, don't go mad on the wallet if you want to get your money back when you come to sell it.
Good luck mate... Post up some pictures when you're done!!
