Hopefully no lasting damage Timing would be logical place to start, though if it's back on the same marks as when you took it apart, would be odd.. have you checked the plug since, if it shows lean running would at least rule out other mechanical failure?

thanks for the reply . hope there's no damage , doesn't seem to be and caught it straight away .
there were no previous marks and i put on a competely new stator / flywheel . i have had to dremmel the adjuster holes as it is .
i re-checked the timing marks again and i have altered it slightly .
i think it is about as good as i can get in now , so hopefully it will be ok .
i've really struggled to get good info on vespa timing . spent hours on tinterweb and got bits , but nothing great . any ideas ?

I might be talking utter boll%ks but I've noticed on my new flywheel and stataor plate that the clearance is very tight between the magnets and metal bits which the coils bolt on to - could it be that when it heats up both bits expands and cause a temp seizure? Don't really know mate - just giving it a stab.

a mate strobed my t5 motor when i put on a new flywheel and stator, and just lined it up with the other removed items, it was out and needed re-adjusting.
