After thinking about the options and getting some excellent feedback have decided to buy a GT125. However, I don't want to buy the top box and wonder if anyone can put me in the direction of panniers suitable for the GT.Either Vespa don't seem to have any or I can't find them! Or do I just strap a stuff bag to the rear rack. Much appreciated, Ian

People don't use panniers on scooters, certainly not on Vespas anyway, presumably because the side panels are too wide. Luggage is secured using a rear carrier, a front carrier (custom made bags for inside the legshield are available but not very common), or by lashing stuff directly to the seat using bungees through the seat strap or an elasticated cargo net. Some people also wear a small rucksack. For an illustration of the lengths we go to, have a look at the Isle of Wight pictures on our Scootering Photos page. By far the most stable and reliable are rear and front carriers (with copious bungees) which, if you're getting a new GT125, you may be able to negotiate into the price with the dealer, but that will depend on who you go to. Don't forget the GT also has storage space under the seat, as well as a tool box inside the legshield that takes a surprising amount of small items.
