Hi every one My names tim im 15 and live in the south west. Im 16 next year and looking to getting a vespa and make it "mod" i can only spend £700-700 on a vespa but the only ones iv seen for that price are the new 21st centurey vespas not like the original ones which are the only ones iv seen "mod". And was wondering if any one has actualy tried makeing one of the newer ones "mod" if you know what i mean with the lights and mirrors.
Cheers.
Tim

Hi Tim, welcome to the forum.
To my mind, mod means modernist, and I feel it would be more in the spirit of the original mods to have a modern machine. I have seen modded up new auto's and personally it's not my thing. But it's not about what I, or anyone else thinks, it's about how you want to express yourself.
The bottom line is, it's (going to be) your scooter and you can do whatever you like to it. Don't worry about what others think, you don't have to conform to what others may expect you to be.
Good luck with whatever you do.

Do your own thing Tim. Personalise it your own way. Don't give a toss what anyone else thinks. Robjack is dead right: Mod does mean Modernist. It also means being apart from the rest! Trend setter etc. Don't worry about the old gubbers who go on about how it should be. This site is a great place for advice, technically and general, and also for a good bit of banter. Enjoy every moment

Tim I couldn't agree more with what the guys have said here. Modernism's all about individuality. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have the mantra "But I don't wanna be like everybody else, that's why I'm a Mod see?" Welcome to the fold, feel free to come back for advice when you do decide to buy a scooter, but in the meantime, browse the sections of the forum because there's loads of threads that might interest you. You should also go to the main site at www.vespa.org.uk and look through some of the hundreds of photos we've got on there, which may give you some ideas on what you can do with a modern model Vespa.

Welcome Tim, as has already been said do as you wanna do, it's yours and as long as it flicks your switch you're going to be happy. Beware that occasionally old farts, such as myself, will take the pi*s while Spence isn't looking but we're not a bad bunch and people wil help out and give advice when they can.
