Hi, I am planning a custom project (more news coming soon!) I need to know if there are any differences in the side panel fixings on the PX range across the years and depending on engine sizes. Are they all the same shape? Do the all have the same fixings and locking mechanisms? Thanks for any help Nathan ;D

Hi Nathan, welcome to vespa.org.uk Given that the design of the Vespa has barely changed since 1950, I think the fixing for the side panels on the PX range should be the same across all the models. Whether they are different sizes depending on the engine, I'm not sure, but I doubt it otherwise people wouldn't be able to kit their engines up and get their panels back on. I rang the Piaggio aftercare helpline earlier, but the trained chimp on the other end of the line didn't know the answer either.

Yeah panel dimensions are the same but mk1 px's use external fixing clips at their fronts as opposed to later models having under the seat locking devices.

definately changed by 83- as I had an 84 px125e which was autolube and had internal locks. I saw an early p2 this weekend forgot about all the differences, I think there was even an indicatorless version in parts of europe.

Although panels are the same the rear pin can be welded on in significantly different places, meaning panels sit at different heights. An easy fix but something to be aware of
