Crap as I know it is to be publicizing events via the Vespa forum, this one is at least in the best interests of anyone riding in London (and perhaps beyond...) The "No to the bike parking tax" campaign are holding their mega demo this Tuesday night (31st March), meeting in Trafalgar Square between 5 - 6:16pm and then riding down to the Westminster council offices for 7pm to attend the Built Environment Policy and Scrutiny Committee meeting. There we shall have the opportunity to air our views about paying £1.50 to park motorized cycles in the city of Westminster, an alarming precedent that needs to be addressed. Various organisations are in full support of this cause and event, including the Metropolitan Police who will be providing outriders for the short hop from Trafalgar Sq to Victoria. Anyone fancying a longer ride can meet up at the Ace Cafe between 3 - 4pm for a ride down into central London. This is an issue that could affect us all if other councils decide to adopt Westminster's approach to bike parking fees, so please do try and make it down if you can. Full details at: www.notobikeparkingfees.com/events/With 1000+ bikes expected it should also be quite a laugh.

Apologies for once again bringing this subject up, but the "No to the bike parking tax" multitudes are hitting the streets again - this coming Monday 11th May, assembling in Trafalgar Square 5:45-6:15pm before heading off on a go-slow ring around central Westminster that finishes in Piccadilly Circus at 9pm. Ride-out from the Ace Cafe to Trafalgar Square sets off at 5pm for those that fancy a longer trip. Last event exceeded all expectations and basically shut down Victoria for a few hours whilst 4000+ bikes, scooters, mopeds and a couple of chaps riding mountain bikes in full leathers made their feelings known to the officers of Westminster Council. Hopefully this one should be even bigger. Those not affected by the Westminster motorcycle parking charge should note that Camden Council are now monitoring the success of their neighbours scheme very carefully - other councils in and outside of London will most likely eventually follow... As before, full details at: www.notobikeparkingfees.com/events/

Al it's perfectly fine to publicize this kind of thing on the forum, in fact I whole-heartedly support you. Crack on mate.

Wish I lived a bit nearer - I'd be joining everyone on this one.
