Hello I wondered if anyone can help In the midst of getting my first scoot registerd/mot etc, a slightly scruffy 1964 125 which will be a rolling resto, but I'm having trouble getting it rolling at all at the moment As far as i know it was sat for a long time, but apparently ran well before so far I've changed the plug/cap, cleaned out the fuel tank & replaced the fuel line, tap gasket, stripped and cleaned out the carb and jets with new gaskets. It will start first kick but on opening up the throttle it just won't rev, almost feels like it's really lean, tried richening with the mixture screw but it doesnt help, also tried leaning but that doesnt help either. 1.5 turns out is about the best it'll idle at. if i take the air filter off and open up the throttle is does spit float needle? Any suggestions gratefully recieved cheers all

If the exhaust needs a clean, caustic soda poured into it and left for a few hours works a treat

If you open the throttle and it spits there is only one place for the pressure to be coming from, the pot. Head off and check the rings, may need a new, oversize, piston or a rebore.
