Need to adjust the timing on my scoot to fit the Malossi 172 kit.. I understand how to do this with a timing disc and strobe light, which I have, read that you need to check the settings at 2k revs, but short of rigging up a rev counter how do I do it ?, sure not many people go to the trouble of setting up a rev counter.. Or, is there a way of setting up the timing statically just using the timing disk, can't figure that out

with the strobe setup you can just let it rev about twice the tickover speed and blip the throttle a couple of times to check there is no deviation in your two markings that you have on the flywheel and casings. You can try the static route with a t.d.c gauge

Thanks mate, sorted it with a strobe, I was presuming there was some sort of advance with the increase in revs which I now know there isn't on the Vespa.. bit of a pain to mark up the timing points on a T5 as you can' really do it on the casings so i marked up the flywheel cover instead.. intrestingly the stock timing was no where near the 'standard' mark already on the flywheel cover, but spot on when I calculated where it should be with a dial gauge..
