I lived in Netherton Yes,but it was andy who wheelied into the railings not long after that picture I wouldnt have been that stupid ;D although- I smacked into the back of speedys brand new week old p2 and come off on my vespa 90 at Hatton Hill( he took it really well tho) come off and done my hand in. Think I got nicknamed "The Hand" cos I was holding it up as it was pouring with blood while Amo took me on the back of his to the hosi. I also on the way back from Blackpool at Rufford with the Liverpool crew I rode around the corner into a chain across a car park and went ars over tt in front of everybody. ;D I do wear my lenses or glasses now if anybody is concerned when Im riding behind them by the way and now have years of biking experience However Learners do worry me when I know theres one behind me now!

Good God. Amazing what the internet turns up. That gormless looking kid stood in the middle of top left photo is me. Was Morecambe 1982-3. I remember that we met up at the car park by the old cinema at Picton Clock in Wavertree to drive up. Some of the lads from Wavertree, Kensington and of course some of the Cavaliers - my old club. Can't remember much about the weekend but it wasn't the one where all the fighting kicked off in the allnighter. That wasn't a scooter rally if I recall but just a soul night at the pier.
South Liverpool had quite a few scooterboys in the late 70's/early '80's. There were the Garston Pacemakers before the Cavaliers. Further out of town were the Widnes Saints. The Cavaliers used to ride out to Sutton Colliery club every so often for a few drinks with the Saints. New Order's Blue Monday was the track that filled the dancefloor at the time. Lost touch with the Cavaliers years ago. I remember that Dave Stanley, who used to work as a deck hand on the pilot boat, got into bikes, as I have. He was into Harley type things whereas I'm more into dirtbikes. Sold the Vespa years almost 30 ago and my 1962 Lambretta Li 125 about 5 yrs ago. Beautiful it was - the Lambretta, not the Vespa. Got a Moto Guzzi 650 and a Suzuki DR250 now. Still get the occasional pang for a scooter but all the scooters near me are knackered old pxes, & couple of old Sprints. Nothing to set the heart thumping. Mick.
