Sorry if this has been covered before but : I have a full UK driving (car) licence and I passed my test back in 1986. Back in those days i didn't need to pass any test to drive my scooter which was under 125cc I just needed to display L plates and not carry passengers. Is this still the case if I am riding a 125cc today? I've heard I don't even need to legally display L plates anymore?
Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave, you need to do the CBT to ride a 125 these days, irrespective of when you passed your car test. It lasts 2 years, if you don't pass your test in that time you have to do the CBT again. You will have to carry 'L' plates until you pass your test.

Jaz is correct. The only time you can ride a scooter without L plates if you haven't passed a test is if you're over 21, hold a full driving licence, and the scooter is 50cc or less.
