hi all,
had my mot on my p125x the other day , all passed but the front brake was close to failing it got 27% and a pass is 25%, i have fitted new competition cut shoes ,new cable and it was adjusted up . the bloke who mot'ed it works on old british bikes and told me to file the brake cam down a bit shorter to make the brake work better, he uses this on old drum brakes on BSA bike he owns.
has anyone tried or know of this technique to make drum brakes better ?

the trouble with "race" or compertition pads/shoes is they tend to be realy hard and need a lot of heat in them before they are of any use. just readjusted my T5 front brake and it stopped the rolling road on the mot. guy passed it as it was more than adequte. daz

had a look at the brake shoes and your right the competition shoes have hardly worn at all, so i have fitted the newish old shoes back in and the brakes are a little better !
lost one of them spring clips that holds the shoes in , it pinged off and could be any where in the garden !! will have to get a spare or two from scooter shop .

i asked them wot they do when they replace brake shoes and the clip pings off !!! there answer they don't !!!

Would think it's a fairly standard sized spring clip, decent motor factor (probably not Halfrauds!) should be able to help..
Front brake on my T5 is pretty crappy even with OE pads, far too much 'squish' on the lever.. tend to use the back one much more..
