Hello Everyone,
I've just joined. I've had my 2003 PX200E (in white) for a few months now (my first geared scooter), and it's GREAT! I love the clunkiness and simplicity of it. Just in the process of adding a few bits of selectively tasteful bling, including a front crash bar, a rear rack and rest, I've already added the stainless steel flywheel cover, sundance grips, headlight stone guard grille, switch covers, rear bumper and mudflap.
However.. I've just bought a VBC/VLB/GL/Rally/SS180 style rear light (alledgedly) to fit a PX from SCOOTRS.COM and it came without a rubber gasket or any wiring instructions. It bears no resemblance to the PX light internally. So I'm wondering firstly if anyone knows where I could get a rubber gasket from to fit this, and secondly if anyone knows how to wire it up.
Thanks folks.

Hello there.
Have you tried asking scootrs.com about the rubber seal? They might send you one.

Yes, I did ask SCOOTRS.COM as my first port of call.. they said I'd be better off sourcing one locally in the UK as the ones they stock aren't much cop and needed a bit of fiddling to get them to fit. Sounds a bit crap to me. I presume that (being a part designed to LOOK like a VBB part but to FIT a PX) the gasket would be the same as one for a regular VBB reat light, but with different positions/sizes for the holes for the wiring.

for a gasket its easy, get some black silicon and carefully apply it to where the gasket should be is a continuous thin line, dont rub it or squash it on just let it dry. when you fit the light it will cushion it from the paintwork and seal it from the weather too!

Okay thanks for the advice all (and the welcome). Funnily enough, the SCOOTRS website lists this forum in it's tech support.... instead of having their own tech support, that is. That silicon is a good idea, but I think first of all, I'm going to check with vespaman ( www.vespaman.co.uk ) as he's local to me. I think the light is missing more than just the gasket.... there doesn't seem to be any kind of reflector plate for the tail light bulb. Just one for the brake light. I'm sure that can't be right. I'd post a pic of it, but the 1.0kb limit puts paid to that. Just incase anyone's interested.. this was the product I bought: scootrs.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=1283

Thanks for that, ripper. I've continued digging since my last post, and gaskets for this shape light are really hard to come by. Scootrs.com did get back to me actually, and included a photo a similar light wired up which helped a lot, but it did reveal the need for a weird tubular bulb for the tail-light (but thankfully not the brake light), which was the nugget of information I had been missing. If I'd known this style of light required an entirely different kinds of bulb, I might not have been so keen on it, as I've splashed out £24+ on a pair on rear light multi-directional LED upgrade bulbs for my PX, which are much brighter, resistant to surges and variable voltage when I'm sitting at traffic lights idling, and generally won't pop at the slightest provocation like tungsten bulbs do. I'm somewhat reluctant to give up my newfound rear light powarrr! However, I did stumble upon this place that not only sells the whole light units themselves but also those wierd tubular bulbs, which are also in scarce evidence on the interwebz. scooter-center.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3868&cPath=430_452_1621&language=enscooter-center.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=142_144&products_id=324This might have been a better bet than the cheaper Vietnamese supplier, but I think it may be a moot point now. I starting to feel I may be better off sticking with my safer, brighter, but uglier standard PX rear light, unless I can find someone that makes good looking rear lights that actuallys take half-decent bulbs. Any chance you could post some pics of your scooter's arse to convince me that it's worthwhile?

Look what I just found online. This place is in Devon. A veritable cornucopia of LED replacement Festoon bulbs. I have already bought one of those ones from ebay, and although I've not actually installed the light yet, I did notice that there are only 4 LEDs and they only face one direction. So if, the bulb works it's way around to face the wrong way under vibration, you'd be without a back light. This old style light unit I've got from ScootRS.com doesn't have a reflector for the tail light bulb to sit into, it's just bare to the paint of the frame underneath. Only the brake light bulb has a reflector around it, but that's a normal type of bulb, anyway. The same might happen with these ones, mind, but they seem to have a lot more LEDs in them, so will be brighter. www.consumabulbs.com/files/allbulbs.php?cat_id=13
