Hi
I'm attempting to repair my Rally 180 and need to take the flywheel off to get to the points, is there an easy way of doing this without specialist tools. I have taken the cowling and the fan off but I'm a little confused as to how I should proceed.
Any advice?
Cheers

Hmm, I think in order to prevent damage you may want to use a flywheel puller, unless anyone else knows of any handy domestic utensils that can be suitably adapted.

Does that deal with the circlip (with the 2 holes in) thats on the inside of the barrel. Not sure this makes sense?

IIRC, circlip comes out first, flywheel extractor screws into the barrel, has a bolt through the middle, when tightened, the flywheel come forward off the crank..

Been a while since I started this post and only just getting round to tackling the job. I've attached a photo of the flywheel rotor, confused as to how to extract it to get to my stator plate, I've taken the circlip out and undone the nut but the actual rotor doesn't budge, I was told I don't need the extractor tool as it should come out without one. If so any advice on how? Or am I just being stupid!

Not worked on a Rally personally and cant really see the detail on the pic.. but is there an 'outside' thread in the centre of the flywheel around the central bolt? if so I think you will need the extractor to do the job...

Vespa Flywheel Removal Tool. This applies to all large frame bikes that have a threaded area around the flywheel nut. Older bikes use a retaining clip that is supposed to draw the flywheel off the crank as the main nut is loosened.
found this in scooterhelp pre79 large frame should have self extracting circlips on nut and should not need a puller .

Thanks for that, think I've now figured it out from the Scooter Help site. There in't a thread for the removal tool but it makes sense on the site.
