Does anybody know how to get the seat open on a Vespa Grandturismo when the battery is flat? I forgot to disconnect over winter and cannot get in!!!.

Hi Brocky, welcome to the vespa.org.uk forum.
According to Piaggio, your key should work in the seat release even if your battery's flat. Failing that, if you put your key in the ignition, switch it to on then press in, your glovebox should open. Apparently there's a lever in there to release the seat catch.
I've never got close enough to a GT to know if this is accurate, but this advice came direct from the Piaggio helpline (even though the lad coughed to being a Gilera Runner owner himself!)

Well why not think about using it in the winter instead of packing it away. I too have a GT200, and it handles great in the wet and wind, and has started every time without fail. These machines were designed to be used in all conditions, and not just for posing about on in the Summer months!!

The GT has grown on me . i always liked it from the outset, but now I think they are a really useable all weather beast with great touring capabilities, still don't like the headset though .
