New to forum Going for first scoot - dumping car, bus or train as way of getting into town every day. Had been looking for something like a sensible Honda SH50 but really fancy an older Vespa... and have seen a PK50 Automatic (Plurimatic) in nice condition. Any thoughts? Thanks all

Welcome. How far is your commute, and what kind of roads is it on?

Hi Spence (thanks for moving me in here by the way!)
Its 4 miles into the city centre from the suburbs. 30 limit all the way. No steep hills.
Is the PK50 Auto much slower than newer 50s? (Its definitely significantly nicer though!)

50cc engines are much of a muchness, and you won't get much more than 35mph out of one no matter what it's in. 4 miles and a 30 limit all the way sounds ideal for a little PK.

Thanks I meant speed as in acceleration - was on an old 49cc recently and it struggled to get up to speed - looked down and was still only doing 20! Struggled a lot on hills too. Hoping the PK will have a bit more poke than that Anyone here going to the Glasgow Mod Weekender?

Am thinking that it might be a VERY good idea just to redo CBT and go for a 125! Yes, its my old Moggy Insurance is even cheaper than I've been quoted for a 49cc bike! Its about £90 for the year for the Morris, fully comp, inc breakdown cover... and have been quoted about £150 TPO for a scoot! Go figure
