Are we talking about surface rust or the deeper stuff? Whereabouts is it?

For surface rust i use the jells which take it back to bare metal (Halfrauds do a good one Hammerite Rust Remover Jell), then when there is no trace of rust left use a rust proofing primer, again I use the Hammerite one, paint on by hand, it dries real quick and builds up nicely, so if by removing the rust the surface is slightly pitted, it will fill it in, then sand with wet & dry lick of spray paint, good as new ish Some colours are easier than others to make a nice Job, mines black and I can spray in a localised patch, cut it back and it's near invisible, not so easy with metallics unfortunately..
