Got a bit of play at the rear wheel which I suspect will be wheel bearings?? how easy are these to replace on the PX T5?.. I did my front ones the other week, easy enough as they are in the hub itself, looks a bit more involved for the rears Or is there anything else that can cause play at the rear wheel?

This may sound ridiculously obvious, but incorrect tyre pressure causes play at the rear wheel. Do you adjust the pressure when you ride with/without a pillion?

Still on the L's until this Thursday (hopefully) so never carried a pillion. Pressure is ok, if I grab the wheel and rock it side to side I can feel some play, replaced the hub recently so not the splines.. dunno if a bit of play there is normal, but I don't feel it is that 'planted' on the road, front bearings are new, tyres are good although of the budget variety, so was thinking it may be play in the rear wheel that makes it feel a bit unstable?

Well if your bearings are new the only thing I can think of is TP. Too much pressure with a single rider's as bad as not enough pressure with a pillion' you usually feel it on roundabouts.
Did you pass your test?

you are allowed minimal play in the rear and it will still pass an mot. "instability and large frame vespa" are two things that i think go together really well ;D.

if your hubs torqued up and wheel rims nice and tight thebn your layshaft bearing has play in it. Don't replace it till you have to ( as in mot fail)

Yep, passed my test ;D only got a couple of minors for going too slow LOL, and I ended up doing it on a bike.. It's only had an MOT in the last month or so, but TBH the front wheel bearings were shot and it should not really have passed IMO, so dunno if they ever bothered checking for play in the rear. Rear hub is new, torqued up right, tyre is good, pressure fine, I can feel play and notice it on the road on corners and roundabouts when you 'set it up' for a bend, just feels a bit unsettled.. I guess I need to get the motor striped at some point and replace the rear hub bearing

there could be some wear on the shaft splines, regardless of the hub been tight and new, this would still cause a wobble.
