If you have 2 bulbs in the tail light then twin filaments are not required - the idea of twin filaments (same as your headlight bulb) is it cuts down on the amount of bulbs needed, i.e if its a 25/25 then it will give out 25 watts of light then you push the rear brake and the other filament will light as well making 50 Watts of light. The list of gear will probably get out of hand if you plan for every eventuallity. If you have got the Satnav running I'd simplify things by programming in all the spares shops along your route and buying as required.

Yes, you're probably right. I wasn't necessarily going to take them all anyway, just wouldn't mind having a spare for all lamps knocking about at home. Defo want a spare for the headlamp at least with me though. It's just occurred to me that my headlight is probably fitted with a halogen bulb. Any idea what one to get? There seems to be a lot to choose from.
That's what I'd guessed on the twin filament bulbs, thanks for confirming Duke. Need to take the rear lens off to be 100% but I think mine requires the 2 bulbs.

I can't remember the set up in my old PX Disc and I have tried a few online stores to see exactly the type of headlight lamp needed - all with no definitive answer! I checked my Haynes manual and the halogen fitting is an HP4 one for all electric start models. There are a few to choose from and its down to your preferences really, we'd all love maximum light but are you prepared to dazzle oncoming drivers? I always found the standard HP4 adequate. I'd also be tempted to stick one of those bicycle flashing red LED lights on the back if the rear carrier is a bit full, gives something for those high up lorry drivers to see!
Cheers

Yes, checked all the same sources. Though I must have missed the bit in my Haynes where it mentioned a H4 halogen. Have you got the latest copy? Mine is up to 2003, not sure when halogen became the standard. That's enough for me to go off. Ta for the help, you're a gent
