hello, for some reason I have just noticed that my speedo reading may be in kilometres and not miles so can someone please tell me if this reading below is kilometres or miles. I have listed my scoot for sale and have listed it as miles also noticed the MOT have put down miles however I think its kilometres which as you know would make it less.

Funny thing is the MOT guy is a lambretta/vespa owner and said oh its in kilometres but just noticed he has put it down as miles, checked the last MOT and that too was in miles.

I would suggest taking it back to where you got it MOT'd and pointing out their error, hopefully they can do something about it. If not you might have to take it further to get the certificate changed?

Personally i don't think that any buyer would really quibble over 2 and a bit thousand miles anyway and you can always point out the mistake to any prospective buyer. It'll probably end up being more hassle than it's worth trying to have the MOTs changed especially with the DVLAs recent performances. I'd just bite the bullet mate and point it out on the next MOT and try to have it rectified then. It'd be different if you were talking major mileage as the resale value would be vastly different but as I said it's only, hang on while I get me calculator, 1716 miles difference, nothing!

I would say that, as the main reading is in Kms, that you are right and it's kms that are recorded. I've just found an old MOT form, from 98, and it just states "recorded mileage". If the MOTs are the same still it would just be what is recorded and, as you are in England, would be assumed to be miles. It doesn't matter that much, any buyer would know the difference and allow for it. If you do advertise it just put that it's the amount of Kms it's done and you're covered.
