Hi, my name is John and I'm from the North East UK.
I don't have a scooter, but I have been looking for information to try and decide what to get. I haven't had a scooter or bike for about 38 years (midlife crisis kicking in I think) and I am totally out of touch, so no doubt I will be asking a few questions at some point.
I have been slowly working my way though all the forum over the last couple of days, and liked it so much, I decided to register.
Regards John

Welcome John.
Ask away and keep us informed about what you decide to get. Also, get a move on because once those spring days arrive, the urge gets a bit stronger.

Thanks for the warm welcome. My first obstacle is that I never got round to taking my "bike test", and as many things have now changed, I will have to do my CBT, so in essence I'm starting from scratch, although I have had a full car licence for 40 years now, so I'm certainly not new to the roads. I'm not a speed freak, so I just want something that is reliable, that i can go out on and enjoy myself, the trouble is trying to make up my mind, so any comments on reliable scooters would be most welcome, also a quick explanation on "Small Frames" would be good, so that I can understand the differences. hi and welcome just email or hotmail me my addy is on profile i think.im in hartlepool Thanks peter, thats where I live. so I might have seen you about, i'll send you a email.

John I'd recommend a PX125 for reliability, ease of use and you can ride it on L plates after passing your CBT. There's absolutely no stigma attached to riding with L plates either - loads and loads of rally going scooterists are still on Ls, so don't sweat passing your test right away. Smallframe Vespas are those with, well a smaller frame than the others. They don't have fully removable side panels and come all in sorts of models from the PKs to the ET Primaveras, and engine sizes from 50cc to 125cc (unless they've been tampered with). "Smallframe" Mike, our forum member, is a serial smallframe tamperer so he can guide you through the finer points of this much-loved range of machines. In the meantime, you might want to have a browse of this website to see what's on and which clubs are in your area: www.northeastscooteralliance.co.uk/home

The CBT validates the provisional entitlement on your licence and only lasts for two years.

hi, apparently I can ride a 50cc on my normal car licence, but must pass a CBT to ride a 125cc. I dont think a 50 cc would be up to the job of hauling 18 stone around Regards John
