Hi all, im Chax i turn 16 in march and wanna get a scooter, I have looked at different companies and have decided that i want a Vespa, I need advice on what to get i have a budget of about £2000 for the scooter and insurance, I don't know if i should buy a new or an older one, I like the look of the new Lx50 and 50cc S, also it seems older 50cc's are hard to come buy on Ebay or seem to be to far away(im in the east mids Derby/Notts border), so there is my problem any advice would be appreciated , Chax

Hello mate, welcome to the forum. Obviously you know that at 16 you're legally limited to a 50cc. I would've suggested the LX50 as a good place to start, if you want an auto. But as they're quite new you might struggle to get a second hand one, and insurance for a young first time rider, for under 2k. Yes the older scooters like a PK can be hard to find now, but don't just look on eBay. Try www.scootertrader.com or get Scootering magazine for the trader pages in the middle. You may find that you have to travel to get the right scooter for you, so knowing someone with a van might come in handy. I'd also suggest getting in touch with a local scooter club, as they're often the best place to hear about scooters for sale first, and always good for a bit of practical face-to-face advice. Not sure exactly where you are, but there's clubs in Chesterfield and Nottingham, and the Mercia SC straddles the Notts/Derbyshire border. Let me know if you want any more details.
