Hi, I've been into bikes for a while and recently bought a Vespa Douglas 125 scooter off a guy who was chucking it out for a token amount. I know nothing about scooters but thought i'd have a go at fixing her up but have had trouble trawling the internet to find exactly what it is. I have an old style registration doc' that states "declared manufactured 1955", however the previous owner reckons it was made in '52 and registered '55...... It does look similar to ones i've seen on the internet, however the seat is longer as if to carry a pillion. Anyway it runs and as far as i can tell needs stripping and spraying and some of the tarnished metalwork replacing. I'll try to get a picture up but if anyone can tell me where to start or if it's worth it i'd be v gratefull! Cheers.

contact the Vespa Club of Great Britain or the Veteran Vespa Club. But keep in touch here too as Lucia says. Very useful advice found always.

Sounds interesting Just look up the chassis & engine numbers on here and you'll have your answer, or as already said try the Vespa Club of Britain. AFAIK, if it says 'declared as manufactured in 1955' it means it has been registered at a later date with DVLA i.e was not on the system when the DVLC changed to new blue log books ('70's?) or it was imported from somewhere outside UK. Look forward to the pics, oh, and welcome to the forum

Hi, this project of mine has sadly died. It was intended as a father & son project but I moved to Germany and so nothing has happened. I tried looking up the frame serial to no avail and am still unsure as to what exactly this scooter is. I've put a link to pics of the scooter at the bottom, any info on the model would be welcomed. I'm probably going to put this on Ebay in the summer as I just don't have the time to give the thing the TLC it deserves. Is there much of a market? Thanks again. s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm55/nuscoot/
