Well i never in my life thought id find myself on a vespa forum!! Ill be honest now im a Landrover nut, cut my hand off and you can read LandRover in my wrist like blackpool rock and i bleed green!!! I could strip one to every nut and bolt with my eyes shut!! Well im here and boy am i here. My girlfriend has been munting on about vespas since i met here (she's italian). I was round a friends house working on my bike (suzuki GSF600 bandit) and the other half had mentioned about wanting a vespa to him. He dragged me round the back of his place, said here take that bloody thing away its taking space i need for yet another bike!!! SO chucked it in the backof the landy and dropped it into the garage. So i now have a PX125E (auto oil) on a D plate. Great...... WELL..... NO turns out she only wanted a 50 'cos she doesnt have a licence for bigger . Also its not a runner. This is what i have found Its got a 'for race only' 180 head n piston, 28mm carb, none standard exhaust system. It needs a new fuel tank 3 tyres All the cables and wiring loom replacing Speedo Selector box cruicform 2nd/3rd gear sand blasting and a re spray (you dont want to see the paint job!!) I want it back to standard 125 SO the free bee is looking at an expensive full on rebuild Its now in as many bits as i can make it be!!! so there you go thats me Pete

Welcome to the gang Pete. I'm a relative newbie myself, having BOUGHT (OMG!!!) a 125 Super without an MOT last November. I also have a modern 600cc inline four bike and the old man has italian exotica in the form of a 900 parallel twin.
So this sudden bug for a 41 year old, 4 geared, 125 2-stroke has taken us both by surprise! Can you picture us in full face race-rep helmets, pootling down the road 2-up in hysterics? Oh it's such a laugh ;D I hope you think so too, well eventually, when you've shelled out some cash LOL. Good luck with the rebuild!

Hi Pete, Welcome to our forum - I hope you'll be able to find some help here if you need it - there's plenty of experts online who have helped each other out. Bet that's the last time you take a 'project' in the back of your Landrover

my last project was another landrover... needed the engine doing and the bulkhead replacing. it just seemed wrong with the wings, roof, doors and bulkhead off not to replace the dented rear tub..... then as it was down to the chassis that should get cleaned up n painted.. n as all the panels were off get them done inside n out in 2pack...... was meant to cost £2500 to buy n get running properly. £7k later.... i split with my ex n she took it as payment and she loved it.
so i tend to get a bit into my projects. im just not wanting to do a vespa equivalent of £7k.
Pete

aah but projects are like Pringles, once you start you just can't stop ;D
(talking from experience too, of a knackered old VW camper van which years later now boasts new engine, exhaust, bumpers, laminate floor and an ikea kitchen for the interior LOL)

I've never understood why they give you that silly plastic lid with Pringles - especially as they advertise the once you start you can't stop theme!
I fancy a VW camper but he wife has banned me from classics because of the Pringle problem.
Can't understand why she dosen't worry about depreciation on our new cars though - seems odd to me as I could have bought a camper van out of my TT's depreciation! Still that's women for you

Alright Pete. Wait til you've had all the skin off your knuckles in a Vespa engine, you'll be longing to stroll around a cavernous Landrover engine again! Welcome to the forum.
